NAPA News - Week 5, Term 1, 2024

Dear NAPA Families,

We hope you have had a great week. We have lots of congratulations this week. I would like to start off by wishing our wonderful creative media and publicity designer, Trina Power, all our best wishes as she ventures off to Uganda to photograph an orphanage and school over there for the next 2 weeks. She will also be going on a 3-day safari up the Nile River.  We all wish Trina a fabulous experience and congratulate her in being selected to do this incredible work. We’ll miss you Trina.

CONGRATULATIONS LAILA!

Congratulations to our 2023 graduate Laila, who has been cast as the lead in Dogfight at Spotlight Theatre. Laila last appeared on the NAPA stage as Grizabella in CATS for which she was awarded Best Actor in a Lead Role in a Youth Musical, as well as the Jock and Beverly McIlwain Encouragement Award and Bursary at the 2023 Gold Palm Theatre Awards. We are so excited to see you shine on stage again, Laila!

CONGRATULATIONS SOUND OF MUSIC NAPA STUDENTS’ PERFORMERS

As theatre safety ruling does not allow students to appear every night for long running shows, our students in the show are spread between 2 casts. Kim and I have gone to see one cast each and will alternate to see the other cast soon.  We are so proud of our students’ performances, they were exceptional. Great job performing these roles cherubs.

Liesl: Grace Nean (graduate)
Kurt: Dexter Ryan
Louisa: Jasmine Nean
Brigitta: Lalita Zielinski and Lacey Reeves
Marta: Dakota Chanel and Lois Scott
Gretl: Ella Moris-Fontes
Rolf: Jake Stubb

Enjoy seeing them shine!

Congratulations Halle!

Congratulations to NAPA Graduate Halle Anderson who is about to set off on her first professional adventure, joining the cast at Disneyland Hong Kong! We are sure you are going to have the most amazing time Halle, and will shine bright among the cast of Disney!

WE HAVE A NAME!

Thank you to everyone for your suggestions on what to name our 2024 Dance Concert. Our selected title is BEYOND THE PAGES. Thank you, Emily Fletcher, for this brilliant suggestion. We are super excited!

BEAUTY & THE BEAST

Once again, the ruling of children not performing every night for long season shows, applies to this production. Our talented James Mitchell and Cru Lee who are both playing the role of Chip have fortnightly schedules sent out.  We will try and post their schedules on the P&F page so if you are booking to see the show, you can try and pick a show that one of them are in. Chookas to Cru and James as they are about to start their third week of performances. Have a fabulous time boys playing to such huge audiences and in such a high budget show.

P&F ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT!

We are now due for our P&F AGM.

The P&F makes such a difference to the experience and training of our students.  By running the bar during the shows and fundraising through raffles, they continue to provide student resources, and help fund rewards and social events. We are so grateful to all our parents who have taken on these roles over the years.  Every parent who has enrolled their child with us is a member of the P&F but we need to elect an executive committee: President, Vice President, Secretary & Treasurer.  If you are interested in taking on one of these roles, please nominate yourself or you can be nominated by someone else and then email me your nominations and name the position you are being nominated for.  I will collate these into a ballot paper for the elections to be held at the AGM. This meeting will take place on Monday 25th March at 5pm in the theatre. We hope we can get at least 20 people there to represent our NAPA families well in the election. The meeting will contain annual reports, then the executive committee steps down to allow the election. I have copied and pasted the description of this from the constitution.

Election of the Executive

  • At the Annual General Meeting of the Association, all the elected Members of the Executive shall retire from office, but shall be eligible for re-election or re-appointment subject to the terms of this Constitution.

  •  The Executive shall be elected from the Association membership by the Ordinary Members.

  • Term of office of the elected Executive Members shall be one year with the right to serve a maximum of 3 years consecutive full terms in the one position.

  • Having served the maximum term in one position the member may stand for election for another position on the Executive.

If an Executive member has served their maximum term (as per 5.2 c) and no nomination is forthcoming for that position, the Ordinary Members may re-appoint the incumbent to that position.

Looking forward to receiving nominations soon.

Have a great week everyone.

Cheers,

Lynn & The NAPA Team
