NAPA News - Week 9, Term 3, 2024

End of Term 3 is upon us! That means it’s time for our Broadway Tweens to take to the stage in The Wizard of Oz. Good luck cherubs!

Wizard of oz

A big reminder for our Broadway Tweens for tomorrow’s final rehearsal - Wednesday 11th is a full costume, hair and make-up rehearsal. Photos will be taken so PLEASE ensure your child has everything they need, including appropriate undergarments for their costumes. All undergarments should be flesh coloured, so to not take away from the costuming. They also need to have their long sleeve black top, plain black leggings (pants for boys), black crew socks (not knee high, ankle lengths or stocking) and their black jazz shoes. Leads should have their items as requested by Miss Laura. ALL cast must have bobby pins to secure wigs, including boys. Drop off is 5.00pm and all cast need to arrive with hair and make-up done. Please do not arrive early to do hair and make-up at the studio, as we still have some classes on and there will not be room for this.

Chookas to our teachers and cherubs who have worked so hard on this show. It’s certainly a challenging one! We can’t wait to see all of the kids shine.

NO CLASSES THIS SATURDAY, 14 SEPTEMBER

A reminder that there are no classes this Saturday due to our Wizard of Oz matinee. Classes will be made up with extended rehearsals for all classes affected. Classes will be notified of extra/extended rehearsals closer to their productions.

ANNIE SUMMER SCHOOL

Due to the large number of applications, we have decided to make our first round of junior auditions via video submission.

ALL ANNIE AND LEAD ORPHAN AUDITIONS ARE NOW DUE BY NOVEMBER 30TH, 2024.

Call-backs for acting will be done the week of December 2nd - 8th 2024.

Children wishing to audition for a dance role only will still need to attend the scheduled auditions on December 8th. The dance auditions will take place from 11.00am-12.00pm at the NAPA Studios - 3 Stevenson Court, Burleigh Heads. Senior auditions will also take place this day.

NON-AUDITION ROLES - All performers are welcome at Summer School! If your child does not wish to audition the will automatically join the Orphan Ensemble.

NAPA COLLEGE - ROUND 2 APPLICATIONS CLOSE 31 OCTOBER

Round 1 Auditions have now closed, and we have very limited places available for Round 2 auditions. Applications for Round 2 close October 31st. If you’re interested in joining us apply now.

PART-TIME DANCE PROGRAM

We have been blown away by the interest in our part-time dance program for 2025! We are so excited to offer yet another amazing program for our NAPA students. This course will be the perfect opportunity for our Musical Theatre students wishing to ensure they have that ‘Triple Threat’ status, or for those who just love dance. Classes will be geared towards ensuring our students are being trained to industry standards and will give them the tools they need to take the next step into the industry along with ensuring longevity in their careers.

MONDAY 7TH OCTOBER - PUBLIC HOLIDAY

Please note that there will be NO classes this day, however the HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL cast have a rehearsal this day. Please see correspondence from Miss Cilla regarding this.

END OF YEAR AWARDS

As noted on our website, we will not be having our traditional awards nights this year. As anyone who has attended previous years knows, we are starting to outgrow our theatre for these sorts of events, and so I have decided to restructure how we wrap up the year. More details will be sent out at the beginning of Term 4, but please leave the week of December 1-7 free for some special presentations and family days at the studio. A basic structure will be:

Sunday 1st - All Film and TV classes presentation
Monday 2nd - Junior Tread the Boards presentation
Tuesday 3rd - Broadway Extension Cabaret Night and Graduate Ceremony
Wednesday 4th - Intermediate Tread the Boards and Senior Dance presentation
Thursday 5th - Senior Tread the Boards and Broadway Bound presentation
Saturday 7th - Broadway Kids, Broadway Tweens and Junior Dance presentation and family fun day
